Heather Haldeman has written a wonderful memoir about growing up with a mother who is a real life Patsy from Ab Fab. As her parents' marriage breaks up, Heather's child-like point of view witnesses adults behaving in ways that are confusing, disturbing, sometimes hilarious, but also very real. Anyone who is a child of divorce will relate to Heather's descriptions of the fraught relationships with her various step-families. As she describes eating her way through the dysfunction around her, you want to put your arms around her and tell her everything will be okay. And with the help of a supportive step-father she gains confidence, and morphs from a self-described pudgy girl to a confident young woman (and from the photograph on the cover, a beautiful one). The book is a triumph, one that everyone will enjoy.
